When you need to choose a web hosting service, millions of websites come up in the searches. Many users will say that some hosts are a scam, others will say that they are delighted with the service and so on. Hostmonster is a good well known host. No question about it. It is approaching the 1 million client mark and with that numbers, it is silly to say that they are a scam. They have some business practices that make people say that they are a scam like offering unlimited space and bandwidth. No resource in the world could be “Unlimited” but if you take it as a generalization, for 99% of users, the resources given by Hostmonster are really “unlimited” because they never will be able to reach any of their limits.
However, there will be that 1% of users that run database intensive applications and complicated scripts, or receive a lot of traffic to their website (and I mean a LOT!) that will reach their server space limits and that will trigger alarms. If you exceed the CPU usage threshold, access to your website will be suspended and this is to prevent that 1% of the users end up using 90% of the server resources, bogging down all other websites and causing problems to all other users in the system.
Unfair? Maybe, but it preserves the sanity of all other websites at the server and for the price paid, they can’t afford to do anything else.
Conclusion
So, if you have a super high traffic webiste or a very complicated one with lots of scripts (and I don’t mean a Wordpress site, that is simple) you should host your website not in a shared environment like this, but on your own server, although that will cost you $100 a month at least, but in the other hand, if you want to host a normal website, HostMonster offers you a reputable company, with lots of resources and for a very low price. Also you get the ability to host multiple domains for free.
It is highly recommended and you can’t go wrong with them.
